Westfield resident Linnea W. Rhodes majored in art at Douglass College with a concentration in printmaking. After college she lived in NYC working as assistant to the Director of Art at Norcross Greeting Cards. Rhodes has been sketching in pen and ink for most of her life, but didnt discover her current chosen medium, watercolored pen & inks, until 2006. She started showing and selling her work in 2005 when she joined and helped found the Contemporary Art Group (CAG)
where she served as the president and co-president from 2009 to 2013.
“I love incorporating detail in my work--on first look my paintings appear very precise, but upon closer inspection every line is a little askew and the colors are intensified to evoke the feel of a location.
If someone says to me, ‘your painting reminds me of how I felt when I was there’ then I have been successful.”
